one of the best ways to celebrate mother’s day is to give your mom the day off. let her relax with the rest of the family doing all the housework. usually, dad and the kids will let mom sleep late that morning as they go into the kitchen to prepare her favourite breakfast. never forget to place a vase with a single flower on the table beside the food. the kids can pick up the flower from the garden or buy one from the shop.

arrange everything nicely before mom wakes up. some families will carry the food and mom’s favourite sections from the newspaper to her bedroom so that mom can have breakfast in bed. presents and cards from the kids can be handed to mom by themselves or just placed on the dining table.

after breakfast, go anywhere mom likes to go. shopping, swimming or going on a picnic in the garden. make a special mother’s day dinner or take mom out for a great meal in a famous restaurant she loves most.

(一) 心酸的无产阶级代表

小说以索尔莫工人的运动革命为背景, 将彼得扎洛莫夫与母亲的真实事迹加以改编, 展现了俄罗斯无产阶级的历史趋势, 母亲这一形象是无产阶级革命中的普通代表, 在小说中起到非常大的作用, 主要通过母亲的感受和视野将人物和事件都结合起来, 高尔基运用艺术手法将母亲的眼神、表情、语言用词和举止心理等情绪, 更加生动而形象地描绘了出来。早期的母亲是一名俄罗斯普通的妇女, 在无产阶级社会中过着悲惨的生活, 通过她的回忆, 读者知道她是多么不容易, 有着各种不幸的生活, 被丈夫鄙俗, 没有自由意志, 结婚后的丈夫更对他加以控制, 经济上不独立的她完全以丈夫为中心, 还经常要承受丈夫的家暴……这些遭遇母亲却只是希望上帝能给她精神上的解脱, 生活中她没有反抗和独立, 总是把自己的痛苦寄托于上帝, 这是多么可笑又可悲的解决办法。加上当时专制统治, 母亲等妇女人物都是处于社会的最底层, 没有政治权利, 也没有思想, 每天都是按一成不变的方式去生活, 她也不知道什么是真理和革命。

当“母亲”听说儿子违背了社会的制约在偷看禁书时, 她万分惊恐, 不希望自己的儿子走上不能回头的道路, 因为儿子是她唯一的希望, 儿子却用革命的真理来打开母亲的心灵, 让她认识到自己生活在苦难中的原因和根源, 儿子的话语触动了母亲的心理, 一喜一忧都用比较生动而真实的面部表情得以描述。她表面上是支持儿子走上革命的道路, 但是心里还是十分担心, 小说中说到:“我不会阻拦你, 但是你也不要随便跟别人说, 人与人之间要提防着。”此时她的心里也有恐惧, 表现出了她的胆小和懦弱。在第一次参加革命活动时, 母亲的紧张和稳重也体现出了她的温顺而恐惧的心理, 而这次的活动只是她为儿子的母爱, 她关心儿子的安全和命运, 活动成功后她又表现出了内心的喜悦, 母亲的革命道理即将开始。

二、加入革命中的母亲形象

虽然母亲加入革命中开始是由于关心儿子的命运, 但是她的思想已经开始转变, 她可以为了儿子去送传单, 私下偷学知识和认字, 从而真正理解真理的含义, 从而也拉近了母亲和儿子间的距离, 使她也进一步有了革命者的素质和修养。在五一游行中, 她真正转变成了自发革命者, 关于举旗的问题上, 母亲和儿子相互为了对方的安全, 而举棋不定, 两人在征讨中儿子激动地怒吼了母亲, 最后母亲也不得不妥协, 但是她却在游行中自觉宣传真理, 当儿子被捕后母亲却捡起儿子丢下的旗帜继续前行, 从而体现了母亲进一步对革命事业必要性的真正见解。在儿子二次被捕时, 母亲已经能深深意识到自己和革命已经紧密结合在一起了, 从而她积极广泛加入到革命活动中, 其思想境界也达到了升华, 她以放弃自己的家而从事革命斗争中, 足以说明她的坚强和大无畏的革命精神, 不管给她什么任务她都可以积极主动而负责地去完成, 表现出了她稳重而沉重, 胆略和视野也不断地增强。

三、故事结尾的高潮形象

母亲在各种革命活动中不断磨练自己, 思想和行为都得到了发展和升华, 从而由被动的革命转变为自主的崇高理想。在结尾中, 母亲决定冒着生命的危险去给儿子送演说稿的举动, 促使小说达到高潮。作者运用独特的艺术心理写法将母亲的内心活动表现得淋漓尽致, 由喜悦自豪到沉重担心, 也有着两种矛盾的心理, 正是这种矛盾的心理描写, 她才最终将革命的重任和义务顺利完成, 向民众散发传单的英雄行为激起了大家对真理的渴望, 也给予了人民无限的鼓舞和温暖。在车站给儿子送演说稿时, 她仅用了几秒钟的时间, 说明了她的革命思想由动摇转向了坚定, 虽然也有过恐惧和胆怯, 但是经过多次的革命洗礼, 她已然成为了一名合格而优秀的无产阶级革命战士, 也是众多革命者中的典型代表形象。

The early Christians celebrated the Mother’s festival on the fourth Sunday of Lent to honor Mary， the mother of Christ. Interestingly， later on a religious order stretched the holiday to include all mothers， and named it as the Mothering Sunday. The English colonists settled in America discontinued the tradition of Mothering Sunday because of lack of time. In 1872， Julia Ward Howe organized a day for mothers dedicated to peace. It is a landmark in the history of Mother’s Day.

In 1907， Anna M. Jarvis （1864-1948）， a Philadelphia schoolteacher， began a movement to set up a national Mother’s Day in honor of her mother. She solicited the help of hundreds of legislators and prominent businessmen to create a special day to honor mothers. The first Mother’s Day observance was a church service honoring Anna’s mother. Anna handed out her mother’s favorite flowers， the white incarnations， on the occasion as they represent sweetness， purity， and patience. Anna’s hard work finally paid off in the year 1914， when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as a national holiday in honor of mothers.

Slowly and gradually the Mother’s day became very popular and gift giving activity increased. All this commercialization of the Mother’s day infuriated Anna as she believed that the day’s sentiment was being sacrificed at the expense of greed and profit.
