本科翻译专业是口笔译人才培养的基础阶段, 学生的语言功底是本阶段教学的重要内容之一, 口译的即时性对学习者提出了更高的语言能力要求。
二、英汉词汇对比分析
英语和汉语都有实词 (Full Word) 和虚词 (Form Word) 之分, 语法作用大致相同, 但是, 也存在诸多差异。
1. 冠词
英语中有冠词a、an、the, 而汉语没有, 冠词是一种虚词, 本身不能独立存在, 只是放在名词前帮助说明名词的意义, 口译中碰到冠词时应注意下几点:
(1) 不定冠词可以译为“一”, 有时可能需要加上适当的量词。
a student一个学生;an apple一个苹果。
(2) 不定冠词在表示抽象意义的一些具体名词前时不用译出。
She has an ear for music.她对音乐有鉴赏力。
(3) 定冠词一般表示特定的人或事物, 通常不译出。但是, 如果在句中含有“这”“那”“这些”“那些”等的意思时, 则要译出。
The end does not justify the means.即使目的正当, 也不能不择手段。 (不译)

(4) 在有些短语中, 使用定冠词和不定冠词时, 其意义相去甚远。
out of question没问题;out of the question不可能。
2. 介词
英语介词数量比较多, 使用广泛, 意义变化大;而汉语介词则比较少, 使用面窄, 意义比较固定, 口译中介词可以这样来处理:
(1) 有些表示时间、地点、状态等的介词可以省去不译。
In 2014, we visited their company.2014年, 我们参观了他们的公司。
He is good at English.他擅长学英语。
(2) 含有动作意义的介词可以转译成动词。
Across the street, she entered a building.她穿过大街, 走进了一栋楼。
(3) 固定搭配, 约定成俗, 不可乱译。
It depends on you.由你决定。
3. 连词
英语中连词的使用率远远高于汉语连词, 因为英语重形态结构, 而汉语重内在联系, 有不少连词不需要译出。
Call me when you have time.有时间就给我打电话。
My parents and I visited the new museum.父母和我一起参观了新博物馆。
4. 代词
英语中代词的使用范围和使用频率都远远高于汉语, 英语的代词通常分为八类:人称代词、物主代词、反身代词、相互代词、指示代词、疑问代词、关系代词和不定代词。汉语代词分为人称代词、指示代词、疑问代词。英语中的名词往往在第一次出现之后就由代词代替, 避免重复, 代词常常略而不译。
One should never pretend to know one does not.不懂不要装懂。
We had much rain this year.今年雨水很多。
5. 名词
(1) 有些名词的单复数形式在不同场合下使用的意义不同。
cloth布料;clothes衣服;people人们;peoples民族。
(2) 有些抽象名词在翻译时要具体化。
unemployment失业现象;tension紧张局势。
(3) 英语的名词所有格不一定都译成“……的”的结构。
a bird’s-eye view of Changsha鸟瞰长沙;St.Paul’s圣保罗教堂。
(4) 英语名词的使用频率远高于汉语, 而动词的情况恰恰相反。因此, 英译汉时常常需要将一些有动作意义的名词或短语译成动词。
They fell in love at first sight.他们一见钟情。
(5) 有些名词复数概念需译出来。
Steps have been taken, but without success.已经采取了一些步骤, 但毫无结果。
6. 动词
在英语中, 动词的时态和语态的变化比汉语动词复杂得多。
(1) 汉语中, 一个句子可以连续使用几个动词, 即“动词连用”。动词连用是现代汉语句法的显著特征之一。英语每个句子中只能使用一个动词, 或者几个并列动词。因此, 英译汉时, 除了英语动词之外, 还要把其他词类也译成汉语动词, 方能体现出两种语言各自特点。
I forgot my key.我忘了带钥匙。
He offered me a cup of tea.他倒了一杯茶给我喝。
(2) 英语动词包括及物动词和不及物动词, 而汉语中大多是及物动词, 只有极少数是不及物的, 因此, 在英汉互译时, 要注意区分, 尤其是有些动词由及物动词变为不及物动词时, 其意义会发生变化。
I know him.我认识他。
I know of him.我听说过他。
They have approved the plan.他们已经批准了计划。
They have approved of the plan.他们赞成这个计划。
(3) 英语动词的时、体变化。英语时态有十几种之多, 此外, 还有语态的变化。汉语是通过词汇手段和句法手段来表示“时”的变化。在英译汉时, 要将复杂多变的时态通过“着”“了”“过”“已经”“就要”“现在”“将来”“正在”“过去”等这些词来表达, 将语法手段转换为词汇手段。
He gets up at 7 a.m.everyday.
他每天早上七点起床。
The boy students in this school have not been allowed to grow long hair.
这所学校的男生一直不许留长发。
三、结语
要掌握好口译技能, 首先要有坚实的语言基本功, 本科口译课程教学作为口译人才培养的第一阶段, 承担着夯实学生语言基础的重任, 口译教学中学生对英汉词汇差异的学习可以帮助其更好地掌握语言本身。
