Dear schoolmates,

As I am graduating, Id like to write this letter to express my feelings before leaving school.Looking back at the last three years of my high school life, Im very proud that I have gained a lot. Apart from learning much knowledge in different subjects, I also learnt how to be a qualified student or a real person. Due to the help of my teachers, I know the significance of being honest, confident and warm-hearted. I really appreciate the devotion that my teachers paid.

Despite the achievements I have made, I have pities during my high school life. I think I should have exercised more rather than study all the time. After all, healthy is vital to us all.

After graduating from high school, Ill enter college, a place where I may meet many challenges. Ill live in college instead of living at home, which requires me to be independent. How to communicate with students who come from different cities is also a challenge.

I suggest you studying hard and building a strong body during your high school lives. Only in this way can you achieve more and have a better future.

Good morning! I am so excited to stand here, as a representative of the whole G12 students’ parents to make a brief speech to show our greatest honor and respect to the school leaders and teachers who work for our sons and daughters in the past three years. Thank you for your hard work.

Frankly, we were hesitant about our choice at first, but today we beam with happiness. Now all of our children have received the admission letters and scholarship from Canada, the USA, the Switzerland and many other countries. Thank you for your great education!

(Jeff Bezos)

(Steve Jobs)

(Sheryl Sandberg)

(John Walsh)

(Michael Uslan)

(David L. Calhoun)

(Earl Bakken)

(Bradley Whitford)

Previously, I always feel that ”time flies“ exaggerated, may seem today, time really is fleeting. Soon to leave his alma mater, and at this moment, I felt so true sad parting.

Three years of junior high school life will end soon, but in front of it all, or so familiar, so friendly. Teacher for the kind words also ring in the ears, as if I have the floor under the teachings Listen meaningful; students bright smiling face lies ahead, if we prepare for the test side by side together. Junior high school three years of wind, frost, rain, snow, cold at night even the painstaking and studied Gloomy dawn suffering, but also so memorable and moving. I remember three years ago, we are a group of ignorant teenagers, we are the first from their parents, especially as I do at home ”clothing to hand food to mouth,“ who came to this group, I am afraid, timid, and in the past self-confidence had gone. Is you, my dear teachers, are you saved me, you told me that confidence is not necessarily successful, may lack self-confidence is bound to fail; you care for me in every possible way, always pay attention to me, so I learned to face difficulties see a ray of hope

faculty, family, friends, and fellow graduates, good evening.i am honored to address you tonight.on behalf of the graduating masters and doctoral students of washington universitys school of engineering and applied science, i would like to thank all the parents, spouses, families, and friends who encouraged and supported us as we worked towards our graduate degrees.i would especially like to thank my own family, eight members of which are in the audience today.i would also like to thank all of the department secretaries and other engineering school staff members who always seemed to be there when confused graduate students needed help.and finally i would like to thank the washington university faculty members who served as our instructors, mentors, and friends.as i think back on the seven-and-a-half years i spent at washington university, my mind is filled with memories, happy, sad, frustrating, and even humorous.tonight i would like to share with you some of the memories that i take with me as i leave washington university.i take with me the memory of my office on the fourth floor of lopata hallwith no chance to re-enter the debate hall after i left.i take with me memories of exams that seemed designed more to test endurance and perseverance than mastery of the subject matter.i managed to escape taking any classes that featured infamous 24-hour-take-home exams, but remember the suffering of my less fortunate colleagues.and what doctoral student could forget the pain and suffering one must endure to survive the qualifying exams? i take with me the memory of the seven-minute rule, which always seemed to be an acceptable excuse for being ten minutes late for anything on campus, but which doesnt seem to apply anywhere else i go.i take with me memories of purple parking permits, the west campus shuttle, checking my pendaflex, over-due library books, trying to print from cec, lunches on delmar, friends who slept in their offices, miniature golf in lopata hall, the greenway talk, division iii basketball, and trying to convince dean russel that yet another engineering school rule should be changed.my uncle ordered popovers from the restaurants bill of fare.and when they were served, he regarded them with a penetrating stare...then he spoke great words of wisdom as he sat there on that chair: to eat these things, said my uncle, you must excercise great care.you may swallow down whats solid...but...you must spit out the air!and...as you partake of the worlds bill of fare, thats darned good advice to follow.do a lot of spitting out the hot air.and be careful what you swallow.thank you.

my third story is about death.when i was 17 i read a quote that went something like if you live each day as if it was your last, someday youll most certainly be right.it made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, i have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself, if today were the last day of my life, would i want to do what i am about to do today? and whenever the answer has been no for too many days in a row, i know i need to change something.remembering that ill be dead soon is the most important thing ive ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life, because almost everything--all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure--these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.remembering that you are going to die is the best way i know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.you are already naked.there is no reason not to follow your heart. about a year ago, i was diagnosed with cancer.i had a scan at 7:30 in the morning and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas.i didnt even know what a pancreas was.the doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that i should expect to live no longer than three to six months.my doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctors code for prepare to die.it means to try and tell your kids everything you thought youd have the next ten years to tell them, in just a few months.it means to make sure that everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family.it means to say your goodbyes. i lived with that diagnosis all day.later that evening i had a biopsy where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor.i was sedated but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope, the doctor started crying, because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery.i had the surgery and, thankfully, i am fine now.

First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,”Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.”

Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.

Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I’m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?

I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?”

For us, I mean the Chinese youth, 2008 Olympic Games is a tremendous gift. Because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to us .The society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ”Hey! Come here and take the helm! ”How charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. This morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the Olympic Games waving its hand. After chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the Olympic Games. And mine is to be a “comforter” ----that is someone who will give comfort to others.

At the end of my speech, I hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. Let us seize opportunities and give a big smile to challenges.
